Love like Jesus
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us (Romans 5:5 NIV).
The highest revelation of Christianity is Christ in you, and living out His love in you. That is because love is the highest and topmost quality of God’s character, so much so, that the Bible says, “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in Him” (1 John 4:16 NIV). As a Christian, your life should be an outshining of God’s great love – His unconditional and self-giving love. You are a testimony of the Father’s great love.
Can You love like Jesus?
One might ask “but God’s love is too high; how can one ever attain such high level of love? Well, Jesus already prayed in John 17:26, “I have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” Jesus asked that our heavenly father’s love may be in us.
We know God heard His prayer because in Romans 5:5, Paul tells us that the same love Jesus prayed about has now been shed in abundance in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. So you don’t need to try to get God’s level of love, for His love is already in you and has to drive you into action for the Kingdom. You can’t get this love by what you do or not do. It is a gift and all you need to do is to pursue (follow and practice). You can love like Jesus.
The Bible says in John 3:16 that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God’s love for the world compelled Him to give His very best for the salvation of others.
The Father’s love in you should also compel you to give your all to the Lord and dedicate yourself to the expansion of His Kingdom. It should motivate you to give your very best for the propagation of the Gospel. The Father’s love in you should compel you to love like Christ and live unto Him.
