Do You Want The Miraculous? Give Thanks

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me (John 11:41).

Jesus understood the importance of thanksgiving. His life was a life of thanksgiving till His death. He always thanked God for what He had and for hearing Him when He prayed. That explains why miracles was a part of His everyday life.

Take for example the story of the feeding of the five thousand in John 6, Jesus’ attitude was one of thankfulness. He didn’t pray in tongues for hours or try to coerce the Father to do something. He only gave thanks and had them distributed. He gave thanks for the little that was available and the little multiplied to feed over five thousand people. Not only did the people eat as much as they wanted, there were 12 baskets full of leftovers. That is what  giving thanks can do. So do you want to the miraculous? Give thanks today.

From today when you see the meagre balance in your bank account, or the little money in your pocket, thank God for what you have. When you give thanks to God, in spite of the little you have, it will turn into abundance and you will even have leftovers!

When you are faced with the impossible, the answer is still, “Father, I thank you….” From the verse above when Jesus saw Lazarus in the tomb, He did not see impossibility or hopelessness, but a way for God to glorify Himself. He simply lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.” Then, He proceeded to call forth the dead man from the tomb. Someone who was dead for four days responded to thanksgiving. So I will ask again, do you want to see the miraculous? Give thanks.

My friend, the next time you find yourself praying, “God, please do this for me! Please give me…” stop immediately! And instead, say, “Thank You God, for hearing me. And because You have heard me, I thank You that I have what I asked for.” And when you thank God like this, the little that you have will multiply. Your impossible situations will turn around to reflect God’s provision. And resurrection life will hit you.
