Seven Attributes That Makes Jesus Eternal God

Jesus

There are many who still believe that Jesus is never God but accept that He is the Son of God. Realising this fact I have come up with seven attributes that makes Jesus eternal God from the Bible. We must note here that there are many more but these are what is shown in the first Chapter of John alone. If the first Chapter contains this much, how many more can there possibly be? Here are the seven attributes that makes Jesus eternal God:

The Word (John 1:1-3): Much as our words reveal to others our hearts and minds, so Jesus Christ is God’s “Word” to reveal His heart and mind to us. Jesus Christ was the Word made flesh. This in itself was a miracle that was prophesied by Isaiah the prophet hundreds of years before it actually happened (Isaiah 7:14). The question you should ask yourself is “Is it possible to separate your words from who you are?”

The Light (John 1:4-13): Jesus declared openly that He is the light of the world (John 8:12). God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). The coming of Jesus Christ into the world was the dawning of a new day for the sinful man. He is the light, the life and the truth. The light still shines and until He is received, you still remain in darkness.

The Son of God (John 1:15-28): Jesus Christ reveals God to us. God is Spirit and therefore is invisible to man but Christ Jesus reveals God to us, for He is the image of the invisible God (Col 1:15) and the express image of His person (Heb 1:3).

Lamb of God (John 1:29-34): the people of Israel were familiar with lambs for the sacrifices. Those lambs could not take away sin but the Lamb of God can take away any sin. God came in the flesh as a precious lamb to take away the sins of all mankind.

The Messiah (John 1:35-42): Messiah is a Hebrew word that means “anointed”. To the Jews, it was the same as the Son of God. As to whether He was the Messiah was indeed a crucial problem that challenged the Jews, but this was settled through His works on earth.

The King of Israel (John 1:43-49): Jesus presented Himself as King and affirmed His Kingship to Pilate (John 18:33-37). Many failed to see Him as king because He did not come the way they expected. They were expecting someone with a physical presence and skilled in the art of warfare to free them from the Romans.

The Son of Man (John 1:50-51): This title speaks of both the deity and humanity of Jesus. He is the living link between heaven and earth. He reminded them that He came from heaven so they don’t miss who He really is just because He was born into a family or was having a human body.

These seven attributes that makes Jesus eternal God is not exhaustive but will help clear a lot of doubt in the minds of many who don’t believe.
