The Importance of Church Services
God wants His children to know the truth from His Word, because it is only the truth that makes you free from any bondage and sets you at liberty. The Church is the ground and pillar of truth. This is one of the primary benefits of attending church meetings and being committed in your local Church. Many don’t know the importance of Church services so prefer to stay at home but that is the place where you are taught the truth – God’s Word that puts you over in life.
You can’t expect to grow spiritually as a Christian except you are taught the Word of God. You cannot stay in your homes and read your Bible always and expect to grow like someone else that attends a Bible believing church. It is not sin to stay home during Church services but you become malnourished because the Lord has anointed ministers and set them over His flock in the church to teach you His Word and impart faith, strength and courage to you.
You can never have a good enough reason to consistently skip church services. There are people who have stopped attending church services because somebody in the church has offended them in one way or the other. That is wrong; you can’t afford to stop going to church. You have to comprehend the importance of church services. Note that the church is not a place for perfect people but rather a place for perfecting people. “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-12). In any case, you are not there for them so they shouldn’t stop you from going to church.
Personal Bible study is very important and must be embraced by all Christians but it can’t take the place of corporate worship – the assembly of ourselves together. You have to be in the house of God so you can hear the Word of God, grow spiritually and be effective in the work of the Kingdom. No one person is the epitome of wisdom, so as you attend church services you add onto the knowledge you already have and become who you are destined to be in life.
