You Reap What You Sow
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves (Romans 1:24).
Sin seems pleasurable in the flesh but at the long run only brings curses and bondage. Many fornicate or steal and say they are having fun forgetting the fact that they will reap exactly what they sow. The devil will always make you think sin is fun when as a matter of fact it is the way to destruction.
We as Christians have been called to live in the spirit; to live a life of holiness. Holiness is having one mind with Christ and living daily according to the word of God. A Christian may fail at times but needs to stand up and pick himself/herself up. One who continues to live in sin will indirectly be harming his own spirit. With time such a person becomes numb to the things of the spirit. Time and time again in the old testament God has allowed the people of Israel to be captives because of their sins only to make them see their short falls and to cry to Him for help.
Similar things happen today, but in several other means. You may lose His presence when you dwell in sin and this will expose you to demonic attacks and all the schemes of the devil. That is what brings a lot of problems to Christians. It doesn’t mean that God hates you but rather, He wants you to know that without Him you are susceptible to many things you cannot control. He loves you and wants the best for you but He cannot do much for you when you choose to be a slave of sin and ultimately the devil.
Sometimes God allows you to reap what you’ve sown so you can know you can’t do without Him. It doesn’t mean that He doesn’t love you but rather justifies His love for you. A father always disciplines a son that he believes in to make him better. If you are in such a position (backsliding), there is still time for you to make that U-turn to the Father. He yearns for fellowship and will never be far from sight.
