Rejoice In His Unfailing Love

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16 NIV)

Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32 reveals the Father’s unconditional and unfailing love. In that story, after the prodigal son had spent all his father gave him on riotous living, the Bible records that he later scrambled for food with swine. One day, he suddenly came to himself and decided to go back to his father. As soon as the father saw him from afar, he rushed out to embrace him. The first thing he told his father was, “Forgive me,” and his father did. The Father did not even allow him to speak out his rehearsed speech but hugged and kissed him.

This describes the love nature of our heavenly Father towards us. Once you repent and say, “Father, forgive me for what I did wrong,” He is quick to forgive because it’s His nature to do so. The young man’s father killed his “fatted calf” to celebrate his lost son’s return, an action that paralleled God’s sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus, for our salvation.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:3-5. His love is beyond comprehension. Nothing you do or have done can change that.

Conclusion

When a believer who has strayed from the truth returns to God, He receives him gladly and establishes him on the right path. The believer will not be anything less in God’s hand; God would place him in his rightful place – an heir of the kingdom. This is why as a child of God, you should take advantage of the Father’s love; rejoice daily in His love, for He loves you unconditionally.
