Prayer: A Holy Communion
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
What a blessing to know that you can communicate directly with the Lord in prayer and have His full attention. Prayer times are moments of spiritual ecstasy and heavenly glory with the Father. As we pray, our spirits are refreshed and our sensitivity to the Spirit is increased.
Some people only pray when they need something from the Lord. Their prayer is Father I need this and that. This is wrong. Your time of prayer shouldn’t only be a time to ask God for the numerous things you want; it should be a time of rich fellowship with Him. It is also not the time for you to always speak in tongues. I believe in tongues but sometimes you have to sit quietly and reflect on all the good things the Lord has done for you and thank Him for it with your understanding.
Prayer is a privilege as well as a responsibility and must be recognized as such. Until you see it this way your Christian life will still be at the junior level. Every moment of prayer is an investment in eternity and true prayer is a romance of righteousness. It is a moment of divine communion where you are enraptured in heavenly bliss; where you behold His Glory and enjoy His presence.
Jesus understood the importance of constant fellowship with the Lord and hence took prayer more seriously while on this earth. The Son of God Himself never did anything without communion with the Father. The Bible says in the morning, a great while before day, Jesus would go out into a solitary place and pray (Mark 1:35). On some occasions He would pray all night long. He understood the power and importance of constant fellowship with the Father.
Conclusion
Communion refers to a partnership, a communication, a fellowship with the Holy Spirit. It means talking to the Holy Spirit and hearing Him talk to you. You need that continual fellowship with the Lord to function effectively and win every day in life. Prayer in itself does not depend on how long although it also counts but on how effective it is for it to make an impact in your life.
