Called To Please The Lord Not Men

Called

After removing Saul, He (God) made David their king. He testified concerning him: “I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do” (Acts 13:22). These words used by God are very profound. Saul was interested in the praises of the people and wanted to look good in the sight of men without thinking about his heart towards God. This was what resulted in his removal as king. David on the other hand was not interested in what men thought about him but rather focused on pleasing God.

What are the motives behind your actions? Why do you do the things you do? The motivation behind your aspirations or what you do matter. Paul writing to Timothy said “..I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry” (1 Timothy 1:12). He was full of gratitude to the One who had called him; for granting him the grace to be effective in the ministry of reconciliation.

You could be famous and have all that money can buy but without the Gospel of Jesus Christ being the uppermost in your heart, as a compelling force in you, you have lived an empty life. The Bible makes us understand that one day everyone shall stand before the judgement seat of Christ and would be rewarded for everything done in the body. Understanding that you have been called to please the Lord, not men will compel to do things out of the love of God and not the praise of men.

Conclusion

In all you do, aim at pleasing the Lord and not men. Understand that being successful is not about pleasing other people; it is about bringing out the best in you. It is about discovering and fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. Focus on what God wants and channel your energies towards fulfilling His dreams, and His peace will reign in your heart. This is what will bring unending victories and success in your life.
