Total Submission To The Word

Bible-with-cross-shadow

Abraham was a man who greatly esteemed God’s Word. The Lord said to Abraham in Genesis 22:2 “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” Putting yourself in his shoes. What would you do? Would you have total submission to the Word of God? As tough as this instruction was, Abraham never questioned it but acted accordingly and would have sacrificed his son if the Lord had not intervened. His motivation was, “once God has said it, it is final” and not in the feelings he had for Isaac.

Your pleasure in life should not be the excitement you get from things you like but in doing the things the Lord has said. Although His Words for you to follow may be unpleasant to the senses, you are not to argue about it. All you have to do is to put the Word of God first. Obedience is better than sacrifice, so although you may not know the end from the beginning you should know that God has a better plan for your life.

God’s Word comes to us to transform, correct, and guide us. If you are about to make a decision in any cause of action and the Word of God tells you differently, don’t harden your heart but choose the Word. Many have made bad choices and have regretted simply because they never gave place to the Word of God. People who harden their hearts against the Word always have the best of God pass them by. I pray such does not happen to you.

The reason why so many believers have experiences where they are filled with the Spirit but are unable to demonstrate the power of the Spirit is because they have not gone through the process where the Word of God was challenged and they made it through. Place premium on God’s Word; that is the secret. The Word of God will always have power in your life to mould, correct, and reprove you; making you that man or woman that God has destined for greatness.
