What Do You Do When All Is Against You
It is easy to say, “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!” when times are good. It is easy to believe that God loves you when you are on the mountain top enjoying the sunshine and looking at the beautiful scenery. But what happens when you are down in the dark valley surrounded by your enemies? What do you do when all is against you?
Perhaps today you are facing the worst possible situations in your marriage, your finances, your health or even in your education and you are asking, “Where is God?” Although I sympathise with you, don’t wallow in your problems but know that God is right there with you and will see you through.
God is not only the God of mountains but also the God of valleys and He says to you today to “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand and give you peace even in the midst of storm.”
The Bible records that when King Jehoshaphat was surrounded and outnumbered by his enemies, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Benaiah and he said to the king, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s… You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.” (2 Chronicles 20:14–17 NIV)
What King Jehoshaphat did next was brilliant. Many in his place would have planned tactically on how to take the enemy down but he acted differently. He acted with wisdom from on high. Instead of putting his commandos in front, he put worshipers in front and what did the worshipers sing? They sung of God’s love for them—“Praise the Lord for His love endures forever!” And God utterly destroyed their enemies with them not having much to do! (2 Chronicles 20:21–23, NIV)
Beloved, it is not the trials that make us strong, but our responses in those trials. Trials are to perfect us but that can only happen when we respond well and come out of it. The devil wants us to respond by asking, “Where is God?” But God wants us to respond with faith in His love for us. God’s love for you is real and not a fallacy. We are more than conquerors not because of our love for Him, for our love is not perfect but through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37).
So whatever situation you may find yourself in today, don’t be afraid. God is there with you strengthening and upholding you. So what do you do when all is against you? Just sing of His love for you and let Him fight your battles for you because I know He gladly will.
