What Does God Want

What Does God Want? This is an interesting question isn’t it? To answer this question I would like to begin with a story. Ones there were 2 sons who wanted earnestly to fulfil their father’s will. One of them thought, “If I can study hard, be first in class, come out of school with good grades, get a good job and marry a good wife my father will be very pleased with me”. The other only sat by the father and obeyed his every request not making his own decisions. My question to you is, “which of them is fulfilling the father’s will? Your guess is as good as mine. It is the second son who gave up his ambition (dream) and decided to only obey his father. The other set his own goals for the father and thought that was what the father wanted. As good as those goals were that was not what the father wanted.

The Bible recalls that Joseph was loved by Jacob because he was the son of his old age (Genesis 37:3). Joseph had a younger brother so if it was only due to age Benjamin, Joseph’s younger brother should be the one the father should have loved best (Read full story in Genesis 37). The main reason was Joseph was always at his father’s feet obeying his every instruction whiles the other brothers were out doing their own thing.

Another question I would like to ask is “which of the sons in the 1st paragraph is you?” (Take some time to analyse your life). There are many trying so hard to please God following their own rules as though they own heaven. Religion is a good example. Religion is man trying to please God with their own effort. Christianity is man giving himself (his all) for God to use.

So have you given up everything or are you holding on to something? Many have been called into ministry but think God needs their money more than He needs them. Many spend so much time doing fruitless things when they could share the gospel with someone in need.

God does not need your offering, tithe or Sunday morning church time. There is only one thing He needs which is you! When He has you He has everything. He will give up everything for you because He loves you. He does not need half of you but all of you. So the answer to the question “what does God want” is YOU! You are His heartbeat. You are the Glory of God.

My beloved, don’t try to please God by your own standards. He has His standard for every single person and you can only know yours when you give up everything to sit at His feet and obey Him. To enlist in the kingdom of God follow the link “Prayer of Salvation” on the top page.
