Sickness – Not From God

Helping

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with powers: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38).

A lady gave birth to a child that was lame and started crying, “Oh God, what has this innocent child done to deserve this? Oh God, why did you do this?” She held God responsible for such a misfortune out of her ignorance. Many people ignorantly attribute certain mishaps in their lives to an act of God; this is wrong! God is not the author of the pain, sickness or misery. Rather, He is the healer, restorer and mender of broken hearts, broken lives and broken relationships. If God was the author of sickness; why then will He provide divine healing. Healing means you ought not to be sick.

Our opening scripture reveals God’s character and nature of love, kindness, mercy and compassion, while revealing satan as the one who oppresses people with sickness, hardship, misery and pain. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all(everyone) that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him. God didn’t make them sick but sent the deliverer, Jesus, to heal every single one of them.

The Bible says there was a man born blind, who not satisfied with his condition, cried out to Jesus for help and the Lord restored his sight (Mark 10:51-52). The man was born blind from his mother’s womb but Jesus healed him. This is a positive proof showing that God didn’t make him blind. The devil’s work is to destroy, which was evident in the man’s life (his blindness) but the Lord Jesus was sent to destroy the work of the devil.

Evidently, God is the healer while the devil is the oppressor responsible for all the sickness, disease and misery that people suffer from. Thanks be to God; He’s given us power to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out devils (Matthew 10:8). You ought to be going about doing good like Jesus, healing all who are oppressed of the devil, for God is with you.
