Why Most Turkish Women Say No to Christian Men

After living in Turkey for a couple of months, there was something intriguing that caught my attention. Don’t be deceived to think that just because a country is in Europe, they (the people living in it) behave the same as majority of the European countries. This article was based on a random sampling of some Turkish women I work with and may not be the thought of all Turkish women.

The first reason why most Turkish women say no to Christian men is because most are Muslims. They tend to stick to the norm that no intermarrying between people of different religions is plausible (that is to say that they believe Christianity is another religion). There is some truth to that because they may not be worshiping the same God. This may sound strange but if we are worshiping the same God as we always try to portray why then will there be such no go areas between these religions?

The second reason why most Turkish women say no to Christian men is family reasons. Most parents are against their wards marrying Christians. It is very difficult to part from teachings that have been imparted to you as a child and because the ladies have been taught the importance of family all their lives, they would rather stick to family than a Christian man. It is said that blood is thicker than water so why not stick to blood relation than a man who may probably leave you afterwards. Family is one of the greatest bonds you can ever have. My question therefore is “why the disparity between two people of different religions marrying if they are worshiping one God?”

The third reason I deem very interesting is what I call “children problem”. They believe marrying a Christian man will bring about a lot of complexities with regards to their kids choosing to be either Christians or Muslims. It is a well known fact that Europeans allow their kids to be whoever they want to be and to do whatever they want to be but why this exception? Is there something up their sleeves? I leave it for you to answer.

Another interesting or should I call it hilarious reason I got was that they literally did not want to go to church. They found the things in the churches weird and didn’t want to be a part of it (I don’t blame them. Some churches have been very bad examples. Anyway, it is impossible to see a ten thousand dollar counterfeit note anywhere in the world. Do you know why? Because the original does not exist. So therefore the reason for there being a counterfeit church simply means there is also an original).

These reasons are not conclusive and may be genuine but are they enough to prevent soul mates from realising their full potential? Are they enough to stop two people who claim to be in love from getting married?

I leave this for you to answer. Leave a comment below.
