How to Hear The Voice of The Holy Spirit

Prayer

One question many Christians have sought answer for is: “How do I know when the Holy Spirit is talking to me?” The Bible says in John 10:27 that “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (Jesus speaking). How to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit should not be a complicated thing. In fact it is one of the primary things a believer should know to have effective fellowship with Him. The reason why many don’t know is because of the lack of teaching on this subject.

First and foremost, the most important thing is to receive the Holy Spirit into your heart. When this happens the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you and mingles with your spirit becoming one with your spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17). With time you will begin to hear His voice talking to you from your spirit. The Holy Spirit “beareth witness with our spirit” (Romans 8:16), so you will have the witness in your spirit that He is the one talking to you.

Another important thing that will help you to know the voice of the Spirit is to learn the Word of God, for His voice bears witness with the Word of God. He never speaks apart from the Word. All that He speaks is in the Word of God and is consistent with God’s will for your life. The Bible says in John16:13 that “when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come”. The more you are acquainted with the Word, the easier it is to know when the Spirit speaks. This is because He bears witness with the Word; His voice and the Holy Scriptures are one.

The Holy Spirit is a Master Communicator and knows when and how to speak to you. Once you hear His voice, He will teach you how to discern His voice even in more complicated situations. My beloved, now that you know how to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, you are going to hear Him more often in every area of your life because He yearns and loves to speak to you.
