Why You Shouldn’t Yield To Fear
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me (Hebrews 13:5-6).
Fear is a strong, uncontrollable, unpleasant emotion caused by actual or perceived danger. This is mostly induced by what one has seen or heard: mostly linked to the senses. This definition pertains to the wisdom of this world. With respect to the Word of God, Paul writing to Timothy said “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” This means that fear in itself is a spirit and not something emotional.
Jesus knowing this told us beforehand that as long as we are in the world, we would face persecutions but then He was quick to assuage our fears and assure us of victory. So it does not matter the persecutions you might be facing right now; be of good cheer, you have already overcome the world and its systems, and all the manipulations of the adversary (1 John 4:4).
You are not a victim in this world nor are you at the mercy of satan or the evil forces that pervade this world so refuse to fear what satan or his cohorts can do, for they have all been defeated. Satan’s most effective tool today is to instill fear in people’s minds through what they see or hear in the media, which is why you shouldn’t yield to fear. Fear is a tormenting and domineering spirit; it grips and takes over the life of the one who accommodates it. The moment you yield to fear, it creates the needed environment for the enemy to plunder and wreak havoc in your life.
No matter what happens around you, don’t succumb to fear. Whenever you hear a negative or evil report, don’t yield to fear as that is exactly what the enemy wants you to do. Always declare that the Lord is your helper and you will not fear what man or satan can do unto you (Hebrews 13:5-6). So it does not matter how satan tries to instigate trouble around you, refuse fear! You are already on the winning side that is why you shouldn’t yield to fear.
