Does God Care For You

Many are going through trying times where they are facing difficulties in life and have gotten angry with God as a result. It may be you or someone else you know going through a different phase in life. Does God care for you even through your hard times? To make this clear we will be studying certain instances in the Bible.

The Bible recalls that Jesus’ disciples when hit by a storm, out of fear of drowning cried out to Jesus who was asleep in the boat (Mark 4:35-41). Out of their frustration they blamed Jesus for their problems by saying “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Although they accused Jesus of not caring for them, He did not rebuke them when He woke up but instead He rebuked the wind and there was a great calm. Jesus did not take offence of what they said but rather turned His attention to the problem.

This also happened to two sisters, Martha and Mary, who did not hesitate to let Jesus know how they felt when He finally showed up four days after their brother Lazarus had died. Both sisters made the same remark to Him “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” (John 11:21-32) Is it not interesting how we are able to easily shift blame when we get into trouble? Both sisters had seen Jesus’ miracles of mercy and love but in their grief focused on how He could have prevented their brother’s death but failed to do so. They did not know His heart—how tender it was toward them and how His help would never fail them, but would even extend to raising their dead brother. (John 11:41–44) Does God care for you? I am sure you are convinced by now how much He really does care.

Beloved, your heavenly Father sees how much you are trying so hard to stay within your means. He sees you trying to provide for yourself and your family and He wants you to know how tender His heart is toward you; to know how much He cares for you; how He is not offended by all the bad things you have ever said of or to Him. He wants you to know how much He wants to and will help and bless you if you will count on Him. So let go and experience afresh the exceeding riches of His grace and His kindness toward you! Don’t worry about whether or not God cares about you but enjoy His love for you.
