God’s Sleeping Partner
In business, sleeping partners also referred to as silent partners don’t work but still take home huge profits. They are like the wife of the boxing champion. He gets badly beaten up before getting the prize money but when he gets home, his wife takes it from him and says, “Thank you very much, you are a darling!”
Do you know that in your covenant with God, you are like the boxer’s wife: God’s sleeping partner? Saying that you are God’s sleeping partner may sound barbaric but that is how the Bible sees it. God has made a new covenant with you which was made possible between God the Father and God the Son at Calvary. You are simply a beneficiary of the new covenant. You enjoy all its benefits without even trying to work at keeping it. Jesus, your representative, has already fulfilled all the conditions on your behalf. And because His obedience is perfect and His work is perfectly finished, the covenant blessings for you are guaranteed!
In the Old Covenant, man was to bring a lamb without defect to God and this atoned for him for a season (Leviticus 4:32-34) but Jesus’ sacrifice for us continues to atone for you even until now. God has paid it all for you and all you are to do is to enjoy of it. This is the miracle that seems so good to be true but it is true. If a Champion would love his wife so much to give his hard fought money to his wife how much more would God give all He has to you because of His love. Mind you, the love of God is perfect which means your expectation should even be more!
My friend, there is nothing left for you to do, but everything for you to believe. Many try to work so hard for God to bless them and end up cursing God for not blessing them. As God’s sleeping partner don’t try to work for your covenant blessings. Rest in the Son’s finished work and receive them by faith! Faith is the only license to access God’s manifold blessings.
