Set Your Gaze On The Word Of God
People of the world feel helpless as the systems of the world go up and down. Many fear where the world is heading to as the economy of many nations crumble. The unemployment rate of many countries is rapidly increasing and countries are not able to find any long lasting solutions for these problems. The news from the various media outlets are bad and are even predicting worst case scenarios.
Beloved, God does not want you to feel helpless as these things go on because you are not of the world (John 17:16). You are of God and a citizen of Zion (heavenly Jerusalem) and therefore need not be subject to the world’s systems. Whatever the world’s situation is, fear not because God is faithful and will meet all your needs with gladness.
The Bible does not say that God shall supply some of your needs but rather “all your needs” (Philippians 4:19). Note also that in this same verse the Bible didn’t say “out of His riches” but rather “according to His riches”. For example, if a millionaire gives you a thousand dollars, one could say that it is out of his riches. But if he gives according to his riches, it would mean that he has given all the millions he has to you. God is trying to tell us that all that He has have been given freely to us.
So how do you stop yourself from feeling helpless in uncertain times? If you have sailed before you will know that a conscious look at the waves around you would only make you seasick. What do you need to do then? You have to set your gaze on the horizon far away; the stable, stationary line is what will keep you away from being seasick. So even though the ship bobs up and down in the rough sea, you will be safe when you fix your eyes on that unshakable and unwavering line. This is the same way you treat any other situation in this world; you set your gaze on the Word of God, the unadulterated Word of God.
My beloved, don’t look at your circumstances or the bad things that are happening in the world because you will get “earth-sick” if there is any word like that. Instead, look at the unshakable, eternal Word of God; set your gaze on the Word of God. Your heart will become stable and you will see your God supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus!
