How To Filter Your Thoughts

Your mind is the door to your human spirit and whatever words and thoughts you allow to go through your mind, whether positive or negative will be deposited in your spirit. That’s why you have to screen and filter what goes through the door of your heart. Filters are designed to allow only the desirable parts of a substance pass through, while the undesirable part is held back or discarded.

Every day, we hear words, see things and receive information from friends, on television and other media, but you must mount guard over your heart; filter what goes through, such that your spirit will only receive and process the right information. Never allow your heart dwell on anything that’s not consistent with the provisions of the gospel.

For example, in the times of economic crunch, as it was recently in some parts of the world, so much information made the rounds of how the dwindling world economy resulted in pay cuts and job losses for many. As a child of God, you ought not to let such news into your heart to create fear in you. Simply say, “That’s not for me. I’m an heir of God, and a joint heir with Christ. Therefore I’m not limited by the economy of this world.”

What to do?

Use the Word of God as a filter to stop contrary information from getting into your heart. Whatever life you’re living today is the result of the thoughts you allowed into your heart, and the words that came out of you as a result. The Bible says “as you think in your heart, so are you” (Proverbs 23:7). The thoughts you allow give rise to the words you speak. Let God’s Word transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. That transformation begins with your thought pattern; filter your thoughts. Think success, victory, health, prosperity, happiness and fulfilment only.
