The Power Of The Tongue
The tongue is a very important organ in the human body that has tremendous power over the entire body. As the bits put in the mouth of a horse can help you in controlling the whole animal or as a large ship can be steered by a very small rudder so is the tongue to the body. These small instruments control something large same as the tongue.
The tongue has the power to destroy others. Conflicts often start with a minor disagreement. If this disagreement is not resolved in love, heated words may erupt which may make matters worse. There have been many broken relationships that are as a result of words spoken by one party.
The tongue has the power to set your course in life. Though so little, the tongue can accomplish anything good or bad. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21). The life you are living today is the result of everything you have been saying. Your words direct the course of your destiny, positively or otherwise; never forget that. If you are a parent you should use positive words on your kids. If you tell your kids they will amount to nothing, they surely will amount to nothing.
The power of the tongue should not be underestimated. You can either become a blessing or a curse (liability) to your society based on the words you use on yourself. The Bible says “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body” (James 3:2). The perfect man in the scripture is one who is mature in thought and in action; one who is a blessing to people. You can determine the quality of life you live here on earth when you have control over your tongue. This is why you should not talk poverty, defeat or death; rather talk prosperity, victory, success and life because you will have whatever you say.
The power of the tongue is most thought in our churches but many fail to add this. The enemy (devil) always try to fight the positive words we speak on our lives. Example is when you say you are strong, that is when you might feel some symptoms or when you say you are rich that is when you will face some financial problems. That is the enemy’s way of trying your faith. Many people lose their confession when such things happen but that is when you are closest to your breakthrough. The Word of God that comes out of your mouth always attracts conflicts and the only way you are going to learn the strength of what God has settled over your life is when it is confronted and you stand. So make a conscious effort to speak the right words of faith about yourself, and you will have a glorious and successful life.
