Convince Yourself, Not God
There are many people who are doing their utmost best to convince God about a particular situation they find themselves in. They say “God you know I need this job (sometimes money) to help pay my rent and my child’s school fees. I have asked all the people I know but they have done nothing. Please Lord, do this for me”. As nice or interesting as this prayer may sound, it is a wrong form of prayer.
The Bible recalls in Mark 5:28 of a woman suffering with the issue of blood. For 12years this woman was plagued with this sickness that caused her great reproach. When the woman heard that Jesus was coming by her village, she said to herself “If only I may touch His garment, I will be made well.” We have to take note that in this remarkable story there were several others who were touching Jesus but only her touch was able to spark off an instant healing in her body.

Using this story as the case study, let us try to examine what the woman did. When the woman heard that Jesus was passing through her village her only thought was, “If I touch His clothes, I will be healed”. She convinced herself that just a touch could do the trick and bring healing to her body. If you are sick, convince yourself that Jesus is your healer and that by His stripes you are healed. You don’t need to convince God about how serious your situation is. He is not the one who needs to be persuaded because His blessing is already on you. You need to be persuaded that God has already given you your miracle.
Some people try to convince God indirectly by confessing their faith to others. For example they will say to their friends “I am believing God for this miracle”. What they really want to imply is, “God I’ve told people that I am believing you for a miracle. It would be very embarrassing if you don’t make it happen”. This kind of confession stems from unbelief and is used to manipulate God.
What should you do then? You just need to convince yourself that God loves you and delights in blessing you. You just need to say to yourself, “God’s love towards me is beyond this problem and therefore He will not keep anything good away from me. He is for me and not against me”. Try to convince yourself, not God.
My beloved, don’t be persuaded by the severity of the problems to try to convince God but rather rest in God’s love for you and know that the problem has already been solved.
