Don’t Starve Your Spirit
As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2).
Man is spirit, has a soul and lives in a body. The human spirit feeds on the Word of God. No wonder Jesus said specifically that man shall not live by bread alone but by the very words that proceeds out of the Father (Matthew 4:4). God’s Word is the basic most important nutrient for spiritual growth and development. The more you feed on the Word, the faster you grow. Spiritual maturity does not depend on the duration of time you have been in the faith but rather the amount and use of the Word of God.
When you don’t feed on the Word of God you become spiritually malnourished and impotent. You become liable to the attacks of the devil and his cohorts. That is when most often than not things begin to go wrong in your life. You become so weak and unable to walk in holiness and become liable to sickness and disease.
God’s Word is to your spirit what physical food is to your body. As your physical body can be sick and even die as a result of malnutrition, so can your spirit be so weak and be overruled by the flesh and the issues of this life (world).
Make the conscious effort to feed your spirit with the Word of God. Avail yourself to be taught by the Holy Spirit. He is the greatest teacher to ever live and also has a wide scope of experience from the days of the Apostles of Christ even until now. He is the wisdom of God and is ready to teach you all there is you want to know pertaining to your job, school, family or relationships.
Humble yourself to study the Bible. As you do so you will observe changes in your soul, body and other areas of your life. You become wise, productive, fruitful, and filled with ideas of success and possibilities. As you continue to study you gain the mastery over situations and challenges that come your way. Through God’s love and nature, your heart is imparted with His divine nature that will make you victorious and excel in all that you do. The Word of God will propel you and make you a wonder in the sight of men. Make time for the Word and your life will never be the same.
