What God Expects From Our Worship
Worship simply means giving honour or adoration to God; it is the devotion or reverence shown to God. Worship in Biblical terms means to bow down in showing reverence to someone or something but in this case God. It does not necessarily have to do with speaking or singing slow songs but rather your heart and corresponding action. Religion has always put man in bondage and placed man in a position where they want to prove themselves by their actions. God deserves our worship but this must be according to His standards and not ours. That is what has called for this article “What God expects from our worship”.
The first thing God Expects from our worship is our time. God is a principled God and does things in His season (Ezekiel 34:26). The mistake most of us do is to allocate time for Him and wonder if He will show up. Interestingly we fix the time in our free period where we have nothing doing. God deserves the first and best parts of our time. Don’t waste your time praying because He won’t show up when you incorporate Him in your life instead of giving Him the driving seat. He wants your time and yearns to fellowship with you so give Him your undivided attention.
Avoid hypocritical worship. God is not interested in the outward show. I have been to prayer meetings where the leader may relate the passion of the people to how good the worship was; that is wrong and unscriptural. Many go to church and pretend they love God but in their heart they don’t. Anyone who loves God does not need to say it because it will be evident in his/her love for people.
When it comes to worship, give your all. God is Spirit and His worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Your all means your undivided attention. Your heart and action should go together. He knows your every thought even before you start to worship so avoid lip service (only singing or speaking with your lips but your heart is far away). What God expects from our worship is equally as important as the answer we seek from Him.
Worship is between you and God and serves as a door way for Him to pure down His manifold blessings on your life and to make you a blessing as a result. Train yourself to be a worshiper and you will become a wonder in your community and the world at large.
