The Answer For A Guilty Conscience

The conscience is the voice of your spirit (the inner man), the mind (thought) is the voice of your soul and feeling is the voice of your body. The mind is the battleground and remains the neutral place until either the spirit or the body rules. The reason why many Christians walk in sin is because they have allowed the body to dominate their judgement. When your feelings rule you, you are prone to sin but when you allow your spirit to rule, you will walk in holiness.

The fall of man was because of the quest to satisfy the flesh. Although the serpent made it look as though God was hiding something good from Adam and Eve, it was rather God’s way of protecting them from the effect of sin. Sin birth guilt which influenced their behaviour adversely. From that fall man has been fighting this canker called guilt. This article is the answer for a guilty conscience.

Have there been times when you have heard the voice of your conscience saying things like “You deserve worst for doing this and that” or “Why are you surprised this is happening? Are you not responsible for this because of what you did?”

There are people who feel depressed all the time because they allow the sense of guilt to rule their lives. Such people even end up paying for their sins in terms of illnesses. As a matter of fact, doctors are discovering that many of the sicknesses that are reported in the various hospitals are as a result of guilt and condemnation. People willingly accept small symptoms they see as a payment to something they did wrong and this small symptom aggravates to something else.

That is why you need to have an answer that will satisfy your conscience. Here is the answer for a guilty conscience. When your conscience says, “You have sinned and must be punished for this sin or else God is not a just God,” you say “Yes, I admit that I have sinned, but this sin and every other sin I have committed were punished in the body of Jesus Christ! Jesus has already paid the full penalty for them therefore there is no more punishment for me today.”

My beloved, the answer for a guilty conscience is to look at the cross of Calvary. That is the only answer that will satisfy your conscience.

So the next time your conscience condemns you because of sin, don’t try to silence it with your good works. Look to the cross and say, “Father, thank You for Jesus and the cross. Jesus was totally condemned on my behalf for this sin, so there is now absolutely no condemnation left for me.” As you do this the peace of God will flood your heart and rid your heart from guilt.
